Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website and find a home that works for them, including people with disabilities. If anything here gets in your way, tell us and we will help you directly.

The Standard We Work To

We build and check this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the most widely used standard for web accessibility in the United States. We check new pages with automated tests and by hand with a keyboard, and we fix problems as we find them. Most of the site meets the standard; the known gaps are listed below, and we are working on them.

What This Site Does to Help

• A Skip to main content link: press Tab once on any page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a clear outline on whatever is selected.
• Headings, page landmarks and form labels for screen readers, and a text description for every photo.
• Text and buttons in colors with enough contrast to read.
• Accessibility options: the round accessibility icon at the bottom left of every page opens tools for larger text, stronger contrast, underlined links, text spacing, an easy-to-read font, a big cursor, a reading guide and stopping motion. Your choices stay on your device until you reset them.
• Motion is turned down when your device is set to reduce motion.
• Pages work zoomed to 200 percent and on phones.

Known Limits

• The homes map is visual. If it is hard to use, call or email us and we will go through the homes with you.
• Booking, payment and sign-in steps run partly on partner systems we do not control. If you hit a barrier there, contact us and we will book with you directly.
• Place photos come from other photographers; their credits are on the Photo credits page.

Accessible Stays and Accommodations

Tell us what you need in a home, such as step-free entry, a ground-floor unit, grab bars or a quiet location, and we will tell you honestly which homes fit. You can ask for a reasonable accommodation at any time, including for a service or assistance animal; assistance animals are not pets, and we do not charge pet fees for them. We can also send any information on this site by email, go through it with you by phone, or provide it in large print.
